Remembering his visit

Dear Aisha, Brioni and Calista,

(Little baby Del is too young to receive letters yet)

This is a letter from your Uncle Roger. You will remember the happy time we had together at your home in Brisbane, and we have the photos to look at so we cannot forget. Do you remember us going on the Ferris wheel? – And swimming at the City Beach? – We had a very happy time. -

Brioni, - I think you are a very brave little girl
to come with us into the dark, dark tunnel and with all the bats flying around. But of course, you were quite safe with Daddy and Uncle Roger to take care of you, and nothing to be afraid of.

We went to look at the horses; - Do you remember? - Then we had another happy day when we went swimming at the Gold Coast; do you remember watching the little trains going around and around on the little railway track?

We must remember these happy times together until we have the chance to meet again. I think you understand that I live far away; a long way away in New South Wales.

When I returned home again to the house where I live I had a very great surprise! – My tomato plant had grown so much it was nearly as high as my roof! – And so, just to show you how tall my tomato plant has grown, I’ve taken some photos to show you which I will send just as soon as I can.

While I was away in Brisbane to visit you, my neighbour very kindly came every day to water my garden and all my plants are looking lovely. I have a little garden of spinach. – Do you like spinach? - It’s very good to eat, and if it is gathered fresh it is the best it can be. Some people don’t like spinach, usually because if it is not fresh it can get a bitter taste, but I have a favourite recipe for cooking spinach which is delicious!

This is the end of my letter now, but I will write to you all again and let you know about my life here on the farm. Remember - I love you all very, very much.

Uncle Roger
